PUNA SHAKA MISSION STATEMENT
Puna Shaka is strictly contracted for entertainment purposes only. The Puna Shaka is a statement of resistance to exploitation. Coined in 2006 by owner Steve Campbell after several encounters with indigenous Hawaiian locals on the Big Island of Hawaii. In contrast to other Islands and communities of Hawaii, the Puna district on the East side of the Big Island is an incredibly harsh environment. Puna Shaka became a way of expressing the local sentiment of " I would like to help you but Im gonna need money" and to express that the " Aloha " had simply run out. This quid pro quo mentality inflated yet justified given the high cost of living, gradual disimulation of their cherished culture and the influence of western capitalism and it's nit picky rules, a Puna Shaka was a perfect expression for the business of entertainment. Behold the Puna Shaka, a band privy to your needs and realistic about theirs. Puna Shaka strives to provide a quality live band suited for the event for the best price. Puna Shaka seeks to meet the clients needs first and remains an uncompromising advocate for musicians fair compensation. This is a service motivated team designed to capture the interest of audiences and retain clientel for the duration of your event.
